Holiday in Greece - Metsovo - Day one

Lonely Mountains of Pindos.
Greece.
My first day starts with the sun rising in Metsovo, high above at an
altitude of 1.160m.

Amphitheatrically built between Grevena, Ioannina and Trikala,
Metsovo is one of the most mysterious cities of Greece, where the
locals speak Vlach, a language akin to Romanian.
The strong light comes out in a flash after clouds as if the gods are
shooting with arrows overhead …..almost blinding me.
But after an hour the sky is empty, blue, lighted by the sun ...

View from my room.

The town square of Metsovo.
Elderly people sit in front , all wearing jackets, flicking their rosary beads.
Close to them, high above in the lonely mountains, lonely shepherds
are watching the time passing by.

About the photos, these aren’t my greatest photographic achievements, but these are the better shots of what I’ve created so far using my Canon G9 &G11 PowerShot  travel Photo Camera.
That's all.

Wonderful you are back, I will come back later to look them over again.

You have many beautiful photographs and it will take me time to carefully look at them for each photograph tells a story, they are layered with texture, and steeped in ancient times.

Joanny

Love your room and view from it and the outdoor bathtub.

Well, thank you very much. I am glad you like this little town.
You can find more information here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metsovo. Anyway, I will try to post more photos on Rainbow forum.

Multumesc mult dragilor! Intr-adevar merita vazut orasul!

@Robert, chiar sunt fotografii informative...le-am facut in fuga...orasul si lumina lui fantastica face totul.

I expect a lot of sun in this holiday...but no chance! Rain, wind, cold water...so almost no tanning and only few subaquatic photos!
So, 1 night in Metsovo, 5 nights in Paleokastritsa (Corfu), one night in Meteora....after that, quickly to Thasos, where I have some friends. I spend 5 days in Photos (Thasos) for diving.
That's all.

Chiar mi-a placut in Metsovo. Gandeste-te cum ar fi fost ca printre poze s-o fi avut si pe cea cu Hugh Laurie [Dr. House], gonind in masina cu numar grecesc. Ahhh ce l-am pierdut. :)

Love the photos:D

Just found the lamp that were talking about. We share the same interest in subjects although mine is messy in comparison. My blog is littered with lamps although not like this and I have a friend who thinks I am obsessed with lamps, windows and doors ... and says that a day out with me and my camera is not complete without one ..... if I get all three in a day... do I win ?
